EU FooD-STA Webinar on "Traditional Food Sector and consumption in China - main trends"
To support the EU SMEs of traditional food products to explore the Chinese market, his webinar will introduce the market of traditional foods in China, covering the import & export trends, market barriers and opportunities, market trends and key stakeholders of foods made from fish, grains, fruits & olives, and vegetables & mashrooms. As a result of the increasing competition and consumer demand for standardised and price competitive food products, EUSMEs are looking for new skills to produce traditional food and to promote the aspects of their products related to nutrition and health. Traditional foods have been developed over a long period of time, and some foods have been considered healthy diet while others may not meet nutritional needs nowadays. As a result, these traditional foods may need to change their ingredients in order to adapt to the modern food trend. The presentation of this webinar is based on China Market Overview report generated in the project of Trafoon - Traditional Food Network (https://www.trafoon.eu/ (link is external)), supported by FP7-KBBE COORDINATION AND SUPPORT ACTION during 2013-2016. Trafoon aims to support SMEs in traditional food sectors by establishing a knowledge transfer network with a focus on food products made of grains, fish, fruits, vegetables and mushrooms to support traditional food producing SMEs. Presenters: Ms Xin (Kaitlin) Dong: Ms. Xin Dong is a consultant at SPI China Office, with experience in internationalization and localization of European SMEs in China. SPI (www.spieurope.eu (link is external)) is a private consulting company created in 1997 as an active centre of national and international networks connected to the SME and innovation sectors. Since joined SPI in 2008, Kaitlin has successfully supported European SMEs from different industries to approach the Chinese market, analysing and reporting in legal, economic and/or trade-related areas in several sectors such as food & agriculture, textile, detergent, ICT, pharmaceutical, healthcare, construction material, etc. Besides experience in international trade, Kaitlin has also worked for many EC projects, developing policy making and promoting EU-China cooperation in different fields, such as science, technology, innovation, ICT, animal health, food safety, urbanization, green technology, etc. She has a Masters degree in Population, Resources and Environment Economics from Renmin University, China, and a Bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering, Tsinghua University, China. Mr. Yen-Chen Pan is a consultant at SPI and performs tasks related to international market research and business development. Before joining SPI, Mr. Yen-Chen Pan worked for LCS & PARTNERS at administrative department. His responsibility was to assist lawyers and partners in researching information, editing documents, and organizing files related to intellectual property law and other business laws. Mr. Yen-Chen Pan has a Bachelors degree in Transportation Management from Tamkang University, Taiwan, and a Masters degree in Leadership with specializing in Financial Markets and Institutions from Northeastern University, USA. Mr. Yen-Chen Pan developed the thesis on the non-profit project for middle school students.
