The farming community is presently in a situation, where strength helps with continuity, where solidarity and a willingness to participate must be lived. The free market and globalisation demand that major and at times pain-ful adjustments are made. At the beginning of our second century, the Swiss Farmers Union (SFU) and its farmer family members face serious challenges. The issue is a piece of the Swiss and global food industry, which we have to fight for in order to secure a fair standard of living for our farm families. Everyone, we at the SFU, the cantonal associations, cooperative associations, producer and trade organisations as well as further sections want to move things together in the same direction.
