The TAGUSVALLEY - Vale do Tejo Technopol is a Science and Technology Park located in a former Nitrogen fatory, União Fabril do Azoto - CUF, in Alferrarede, Abrantes - Portugal, since November 7, 2003.
This park is a bet of the Municipality of Abrantes (in 2000) to stimulate entrepreneurship and competitiveness in the region, based on Innovation and Technology.
As key partners of this project TAGUSVALLEY have: NERSANT - Associação Empresarial da Região de Santarém (Business Association, Santarém, Portugal) and IPT, Instituto Politécnico de Tomar (Polytechnic Institute, Tomar, Portugal).
The park space, with 15 hectares, is owned by the Municipality of Abrantes, and the responsibility of non-profit Association with the same name, since December 7, 2004.
For the achievement of its mission to boost entrepreneurship and innovation in ''Médio Tejo'' (Middle Tagus/Tejo), TAGUSVALLEY account as well, apart from the forerunners parteners, with the ''IPS - Instituto Politécncio de Santarém'' (Polytechnic Institute, Santarém, Portugal), and ''Tejo Energia''.
The TAGUSVALLEY strategy is based on 4 major sectors: Information and Communication Technologies,Energy, Metalworking and Agrifood, to identification of the oportunities and synergies among regional stakeholders, to create an enhancer of innovation and entrepreneurship system, along with an attractive and stimulating policy fixing of qualified human resources.
