The Institute of Sustainable Agriculture (IAS) was founded in 1992 as a unique center of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in agricultural research, with a specific focus on Andalusian agricultural systems, such as arable crops of rainfed and irrigated and olive groves, with the aim of making food production compatible with the conservation of natural resources and environmental protection. This declaration of intentions identified as main objective the research oriented to the socioeconomic needs of the environment.
