The concept of tourist heritage is today evolving. The attractions that motivate the traveller are new and varied. Around the latter new touristic offers have been structured until the point of considering them as new cultural heritages. The typical food productions, due to the growing attention which is being recognized to the quality of food and the preservation of traditional food habits, fall into the category of new tourist attractions. The desire of modern tourist to learn about the culture of a country through its cuisine and its typical products made out recognizing certain importance to food quality labels and certifications. The latters, due to their strong linkage with territory, are affirmed as important tools of communication and definition of destination image. The aim of this article is analyse the role of food quality labels in the success of a tourist destination. We study the specific case of the Extremadura, being a region that has one of the most extensive lists of food certifications.
